VIDEO: The 1931 Shotwell built in Minnesota, by a Teenager


What happens when you ask your dad for a car in the 1930s and your dad says no? You go to a junkyard in rural Minnesota and build one yourself on a budget of $300 ($4,498 in 2017). That's exactly what Bob Shotwell did with his one off creation and then he drove it everywhere. The car has been to Alaska, down the west coast through California and everywhere in between, literally, the car had 150,000 miles on it!

After 50 odd years, the car ended up in Jay Leno's collection and he took the time to completely restore it. During the restoration, Jay found out just how well made it was and was blown away. Although he never got a chance to meet Bob, Jay holds him in the highest esteem. Check out the video below.
